Ministry of Education Declares Mental Health Week in Schools from October 9–15, 2026
අධ්යාපන, උසස් අධ්යාපන හා වෘත්තීය අධ්යාපන අමාත්යාංශය විසින් 2026 ඔක්තෝබර් 09 සිට 15 දක්වා දිවයිනේ සියලුම පාසල්වල “පාසල් මානසික සෞඛ්ය සතිය” ලෙස ප්රකාශයට පත් කරමින් ED/09/02/06/02/49 දරන චක්රලේඛය නිකුත් කර ඇත. ඔක්තෝබර් 10 ලෝක මානසික සෞඛ්ය දිනය සහ ඔක්තෝබර් 15 ජාතික උපදේශන දිනයට සමගාමීව ක්රියාත්මක කෙරෙන මෙම වැඩසටහනේ ප්රගති වාර්තා 2026 ඔක්තෝබර් 30 දිනට පෙර අමාත්යාංශය වෙත යොමු කළ යුතුය.
கல்வி, உயர்கல்வி மற்றும் தொழிற்கல்வி அமைச்சினால் 2026 ஒக்டோபர் 09 முதல் 15 ஆம் திகதி வரை நாட்டிலுள்ள அனைத்துப் பாடசாலைகளிலும் “பாடசாலை உளநல வாரம்” என பிரகடனப்படுத்தப்பட்டு சுற்றறிக்கை (ED/09/02/06/02/49) வெளியிடப்பட்டுள்ளது. ஒக்டோபர் 10 உலக உளநல தினம் மற்றும் ஒக்டோபர் 15 தேசிய ஆலோசனையாளர் தினத்தை முன்னிட்டு நடைமுறைப்படுத்தப்படும் இந்நிகழ்வுகளின் முன்னேற்ற அறிக்கைகள் 2026 ஒக்டோபர் 30 ஆம் திகதிக்கு முன்னர் அனுப்பி வைக்கப்பட வேண்டும்.
The Co-curricular, Guidance, and Counselling Branch of the Ministry of Education has outlined the following nine activities for school-level execution during Mental Health Week:
- Theme Displays: Install promotional banners featuring the 2026 theme at school entrances alongside key awareness slogans and wellness quotes.
- C2 Club Awareness Projects: Mobilize adolescent students through school C2 Clubs for creative projects, including poster design, visual arts, essay writing, and poetry.
- “Dear Me” Letter Writing: Organize supportive, anonymous letter-writing sessions where students write notes of encouragement to their future selves or peers struggling with emotional challenges.
- Debates & Oratory Contests: Host inter-class speech, presentation, and debating sessions focused on destigmatizing mental health and addressing youth stress.
- Self-Pledge Noticeboards: Create interactive boards where students, teachers, and non-academic staff paste sticky notes making personal commitments to care for their own and others’ emotional well-being.
- Guest Lectures & Expert Sessions: Conduct specialized mental wellness awareness sessions led by medical officers, professional counsellors, or psychologists for students and parents.
- Street Drama & Skits: Organize short dramatic presentations and stage plays during school morning assemblies or intervals to illustrate the value of active listening and peer support.
- Thematic Exhibitions: Showcase creative artwork, educational charts, photography, and literature prepared by students across grade levels.
- Life Skills & Resilience Workshops: Conduct hands-on activity workshops focusing on emotional resilience, stress mitigation, exam pressure handling, and constructive communication.

Join WhatsApp Channel Now- Institutional Coordination: School principals and vice-principals must collaborate with In-Service Advisors (ISA) for Career Guidance and Counselling, Zonal Education Directors, and regional public healthcare personnel.
- Compulsory Progress Submission: All schools must document the events conducted during the week using the standardized format (Annexure 02) provided with the circular.
- Reporting Deadline: Completed reports and photograph summaries must be submitted to the Ministry’s Counselling Branch via email to [email protected] on or before October 30, 2026.
