NISS Diploma in Sports Course 2026/2027 (NVQ Level 5) Admission Overview
The National Institute of Sports Science (NISS), operating under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, has officially announced the intake for the Diploma in Sports 2026/2027 (NVQ Level 5) in the Government Gazette dated 06 November 2026. The programme is conducted in Sinhala and English media over a 12-month period and is designed for prospective and active sports instructors, coaches, physical education teachers, and national-level athletes.
Duly completed applications prepared in accordance with the specimen format must be submitted by registered post on or before 01 December 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
- Age Limit: Between 18 and 35 years as of 01.12.2026 (Upper age limit is relaxed up to 45 years for candidates currently employed in the public service).
- Basic Educational Qualifications: Passed G.C.E. (O/L) in six (06) subjects with three (03) credit passes in not more than two sittings, including passes in Sinhala/Tamil and Mathematics/Arithmetic.
- Mandatory Sports Criteria (Must fulfill at least one):
- Successfully completed at least a 6-month course from a recognized school/institute of sports or physical education; OR
- Successfully completed a course in sports or physical education at a training school/institution of the Tri-Forces, Police, or Civil Security Department; OR
- At least five (05) years of service as a school sports teacher or sports ground instructor in a local government authority, demonstrating special athletic competence; OR
- Member of a national sports team in any discipline and participated in an international sports competition; OR
- Secured 1st or 2nd place in a district-level meet at the National Sports Festival organized by the Ministry of Sports, OR secured 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place in a national-level championship conducted by a National Sports Association.
Course Fee & Accommodation Details
- Course Fee: Rs. 60,000/- payable prior to course commencement to Bank of Ceylon, Torrington Branch (Account No: 7040742) in favour of “Secretary, Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs” with the reference “NISS DIP 26/27”. A copy of the deposit receipt must be emailed to [email protected].
- Hostel Facilities: On-campus hostel accommodation is available for selected candidates for an annual fee of Rs. 18,000/-.
- NVQ Level 5 Certification: Successful completers receive the “Diploma in Sports” certificate and qualify to obtain the NVQ Level 5 credential following the viva-voce evaluation.
Selection Scheme
- Eligible candidates will be summoned for a written examination.
- Shortlisted applicants based on written test cut-off marks will be called for an interview and a practical physical fitness test.
ජාතික ක්රීඩා විද්යා ආයතනයේ ක්රීඩා ඩිප්ලෝමා පාඨමාලාව – 2026/2027 (NVQ 5)
තරුණ කටයුතු සහ ක්රීඩා අමාත්යාංශය යටතේ ක්රියාත්මක ජාතික ක්රීඩා විද්යා ආයතනය (NISS) මඟින් පවත්වනු ලබන වසරක පූර්ණකාලීන NVQ 5 මට්ටමේ ක්රීඩා ඩිප්ලෝමා පාඨමාලාව සඳහා 2026.11.06 දිනැති රජයේ ගැසට් පත්රය මඟින් අයදුම්පත් කැඳවා ඇත.
- වයස් සීමාව: වයස අවුරුදු 18-35 අතර (රාජ්ය සේවයේ නියුක්තිකයන්ට උපරිම වයස අවුරුදු 45 කි).
- අධ්යාපන සුදුසුකම්: අ.පො.ස. (සා/පෙළ) දෙවරකට නොවැඩි වාර ගණනකදී සම්මාන 3ක් සහිතව විෂයයන් 6ක් සමත්වීම (සිංහල/දෙමළ සහ ගණිතය සහිතව).
- ක්රීඩා සුදුසුකම්: පිළිගත් මාස 6ක ක්රීඩා/ශාරීරික අධ්යාපන පාඨමාලාවක් හැදෑරීම, ත්රිවිධ හමුදා/පොලිස් පුහුණු පාසලක ක්රීඩා පාඨමාලාවක් හැදෑරීම, වසර 5ක පාසල් ක්රීඩා ගුරු/උපදේශක සේවා පළපුරුද්ද, ජාතික කණ්ඩායම් සාමාජිකත්වය හෝ ජාතික/දිස්ත්රික් මට්ටමේ ජයග්රහණ ලබා තිබීම.
- පාඨමාලා ගාස්තුව: රු. 60,000/- (නේවාසිකාගාර ගාස්තුව: රු. 18,000/-).
- අයදුම්පත් භාරගන්නා අවසන් දිනය: 2026 දෙසැම්බර් මස 01 වන දින.
தேசிய விளையாட்டு விஞ்ஞான நிறுவகத்தின் விளையாட்டு டிப்ளோமா பாடநெறி 2026/2027 (NVQ 5)
இளைஞர் விவகார மற்றும் விளையாட்டுத்துறை அமைச்சின் கீழ் இயங்கும் தேசிய விளையாட்டு விஞ்ஞான நிறுவகத்தினால் (NISS) நடாத்தப்படும் 12 மாத கால NVQ மட்டம் 5 விளையாட்டு டிப்ளோமா கற்கைநெறிக்கான விண்ணப்பங்கள் 2026.11.06 ஆம் திகதிய அரச வர்த்தமானியில் கோரப்பட்டுள்ளன.
- வயதெல்லை: 18 – 35 வயதிற்குள் (அரச ஊழியர்களுக்கு அதிகபட்ச வயதெல்லை 45 வயது).
- கல்வித் தகைமை: க.பொ.த (சா/த) பரீட்சையில் சிங்களம்/தமிழ் மற்றும் கணிதம் உட்பட இரு அமர்வுகளுக்கு மேற்படாமல் 3 திறமைச் சித்திகளுடன் 6 பாடங்களில் சித்தி.
- விளையாட்டுத் தகைமைகள்: 6 மாத கால விளையாட்டு நெறி தகைமை, முப்படை/பொலிஸ் விளையாட்டுப் பயிற்சி, 5 வருட பாடசாலை விளையாட்டு ஆசிரியர்/பயிற்றுவிப்பாளர் அனுபவம், தேசிய அணி பிரதிநிதித்துவம் அல்லது தேசிய/மாவட்ட மட்ட விளையாட்டுப் போட்டிகளில் வெற்றி பெற்றிருத்தல்.
- கட்டணம்: பாடநெறிக் கட்டணம் ரூ. 60,000/- (விடுதிக் கட்டணம்: ரூ. 18,000/-).
- விண்ணப்பிக்கும் இறுதித் திகதி: 01 டிசம்பர் 2026.
⚠️ Important Candidate Notice
- Applications must be prepared in the exact 8×13 inch specimen format in one’s own handwriting and sent via registered post.
- Mention “Application for Diploma in Sports Course 2026/2027” on the top left corner of the envelope.
- Public sector/corporation employees must route their applications through their respective heads of institutions.
- The Ministry is not bound to provide employment upon completion of the course.
