The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education has officially published Amendment No. 04 to the Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service Minute through Extraordinary Gazette No. 2493/61 dated 19 June 2026.
According to the Gazette notification, the amendment introduces revisions to the structure of the Efficiency Bar (EB) Examinations applicable to officers in the Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service.
Key Changes Introduced
The amendment specifies a revised examination format for Efficiency Bar examinations. The written examinations conducted for each Efficiency Bar will now consist of the following two papers:
Paper I
- Question Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)
- Duration: 01 Hour
- Marks: 40 Marks
Paper II
- Question Type: Structured Questions or Semi-Structured Questions
- Duration: 02 Hours
- Marks: 60 Marks
The written examinations will be prepared to cover the relevant modules prescribed for each Efficiency Bar stage.
Other Conditions Remain Unchanged
The Ministry has clarified that all other provisions, qualifications, conditions, and regulations contained in the existing Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service Minute shall remain unchanged.

The amendment takes effect as stipulated in the Gazette notification and will apply to future Efficiency Bar examinations conducted under the Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service.
