Aptitude Test for BA (Hons) in Music – University of Sri Jayewardenepura

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, is now accepting applications for the Aptitude Test for the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Music degree programme for the academic year 2024/2025, based on the G.C.E. A/L Examination 2024.

Applications will be accepted from 08th May 2025 onwards, and eligible candidates are invited to apply online.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must:

1. Fulfill the minimum university admission requirements as stated in the Student Handbook: “Admission to Undergraduate Courses of the Universities in Sri Lanka – Academic Year 2024/2025 (Based on G.C.E. A/L – 2024)” issued by the University Grants Commission.
2. Have passed all three subjects at the G.C.E. A/L 2024, including at least a Credit Pass (C) in Music.
3. Pass the Aptitude Test conducted by the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

Note: The Aptitude Test is specifically conducted for North Indian Ragadari Music.
Applicants must intend to study one of the following as their main area:
Vocal, Violin, Sitar, or Table

Application Fee:

• A non-refundable fee of Rs. 2,000/- should be paid in favor of the Bursar, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
• Payment must be made only at People’s Bank, Account No: 097-1-00150005005 (Gangodawila Branch).
• Ensure the Name and NIC number are mentioned clearly on the payment slip.

Documents to Upload with Application:

1. Bank payment receipt
2. National Identity Card
3. G.C.E. A/L 2024 Result Sheet
   • School candidates: Certified by the Principal
   • Private candidates: Certified by the Grama Niladhari

Original documents must be presented on the day of the Aptitude Test.
Incomplete or incorrect applications will be rejected, and the application fee will not be refunded.

Important Notes:

• Applicants must also apply separately to the University Grants Commission (UGC) for university admission.
• Further information about the aptitude test will be published on the Faculty website.
• All notifications, including aptitude test dates and venues, will be sent via email only – not by post.
• The test will be conducted in Sinhala medium (or English, if required).
