GIT Examination 2026 Overview

The Department of Examinations, Sri Lanka, has issued an official press release regarding the General Information Technology (GIT) Examination 2026. Signed by Commissioner General of Examinations A.K.S. Indika Kumari Liyanage, the notice confirms that the examination will take place on Saturday, October 24, 2026, across 1,520 examination centers established island-wide.

Hard-copy admission cards were dispatched by post on October 15, 2026, to school principals and administrators of private schools. In addition, online admission card downloading and correction facilities have been made operational starting October 16, 2026.

Instructions for Online Downloads & Amendments

School administrators can access the official Department of Examinations online portal to download admission cards and request necessary candidate data amendments:

• Government Schools: School principals must log in to their respective institutional accounts on the official portal using their designated Username and Password to amend candidate details.
• Private Schools: Administrators must visit the portal, select the “Private School” login option, and sign in with their authorized credentials to perform candidate corrections.

Online Correction Deadline

All online amendments regarding candidates’ names, medium of examination, or specific subject details must be completed before 12:00 Midnight on October 19, 2026. The Department of Examinations emphasized that no further time extensions will be granted beyond this deadline.
