Department of Examinations Recruitment 2026: Examination Data Assistant (Grade III)
The Department of Examinations, Sri Lanka, has published an official notification in the Government Gazette dated October 23, 2026, announcing the Open Competitive Examination for recruitment to Grade III of Examination Data Assistant (Departmental) under the Management Assistant Non-Technical – Segment 2 Service Category to fill 23 permanent vacancies.
Applications are accepted strictly online via the official website of the Department of Examinations from October 26, 2026, until 9:00 PM on November 20, 2026. The competitive written examination will be conducted in Colombo in February 2027 in Sinhala and Tamil media.
Eligibility Criteria
- G.C.E. (O/L): Passed in six (06) subjects at one sitting with credit passes for Sinhala/Tamil/English language, Mathematics, and two other subjects.
- G.C.E. (A/L): Passed in at least one (01) subject (excluding Common General Test and General English).
- Professional Qualification: Obtained at least Level 3 of the National Vocational Qualification (NVQ Level 3) in Computer / Information and Communication Technology, or an equivalent qualification recognized by the TVEC.
- Experience: Minimum of 06 months of experience in computer data entry.
- Age Limit: Must be not less than 18 years and not more than 35 years as of November 20, 2026 (born between 20.11.1991 and 20.11.2008).
- Physical Fitness: Must possess sound physical and mental fitness to perform duties day and night according to departmental service requirements. Clergy of any religion are not eligible to apply.
Selection Scheme & Marks Allocation
- 1. Written Test (Computer Literacy): 2-hour paper carrying 100 marks assessing subject knowledge equivalent to NVQ Level 3 in ICT (Pass mark: 40%). Top scorers equivalent to twice the number of vacancies will be called for the next stages.
- 2. Structured Interview (70 Marks): Evaluates additional educational qualifications (30 marks), additional professional qualifications (35 marks), and merit displayed at the interview (05 marks).
- 3. Practical Test (30 Marks): Evaluates computer typewriting speed, formatting, and spelling accuracy of a printed document.
