The Ministry of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education has announced a significant extension for teachers to complete their EB Modules. This decision, approved by the Public Service Commission, provides much-needed relief to teachers who were facing difficulties in meeting the previous deadlines.
According to a letter issued by the Ministry, all Provincial Directors of Education have been informed that teachers now have until June 30, 2025, to complete the required modules for the existing EBE system. This extension comes in light of numerous appeals from teachers who cited circumstances beyond their control for their inability to meet the original deadlines.
The Efficiency Bar Examinations are a crucial component of the Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service regulations, outlined in the Extraordinary Gazette No. 1885/38 dated October 23, 2014. While interim relief measures were previously granted until October 22, 2022, many teachers still struggled to comply.
“We recognize the challenges faced by our teachers,” stated Nalaka Kaluwewa, Secretary of the Ministry of Education, in the official letter. “Therefore, the Public Service Commission has approved a general relief period until June 30, 2025, to complete the existing EBE modules, before the new EBE system comes into effect on July 1, 2025.“
