The Government Information Department of Sri Lanka has announced several permanent and pensionable vacancies for the year 2026, inviting applications from qualified candidates across the country.
According to the official gazette notification published on March 20, 2026 , recruitment will be conducted for multiple positions including Web Writer, Technical Officer, and Photographer.
Web Writer Positions
A total of six (06) vacancies have been announced for the post of Web Writer. These are distributed across language mediums as follows:
- Sinhala – 01
- Tamil – 02
- English – 03
Applicants are required to possess relevant educational qualifications along with competencies in media, communication, and digital content creation. Selection will be based on a written examination and an interview.
Technical Officer Vacancies
The department has also opened two (02) vacancies for Technical Officers. Candidates applying for this position must have technical qualifications in fields such as engineering or information technology, along with the required academic background.
Photographer Positions
Additionally, six (06) vacancies are available for the post of Photographer, targeting individuals with skills in visual media, photography, and related technical expertise.
Application Deadline
All applications must be submitted on or before April 20, 2026. Applicants are required to send their duly completed applications, along with certified copies of educational and professional certificates, to the Government Information Department.
Recruitment Process
The recruitment process will include:
- Competitive written examination
- General interview
The examination will be conducted in Sinhala, Tamil, and English mediums, and candidates must select one language at the time of application.
