The University of Kelaniya has officially announced the calling of applications for aptitude tests for the 2025/2026 academic year. These tests are mandatory for students seeking admission to selected specialized degree programmes.
🎓 Available Degree Programmes
Applications are now open for the following courses:
- Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Film and Television Studies
- Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Sports Science
Candidates who sat for the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination in 2025 and meet the minimum eligibility requirements can apply.
📝 Important Requirements
All applicants must:
- Apply for university admission through the University Grants Commission (UGC)
- Additionally apply for the relevant aptitude test conducted by the University of Kelaniya
- Sit for and pass the aptitude test (compulsory for selection)
🎬 Film & Television Studies – Test Structure
The aptitude test consists of two stages:
1. Written Test
- General knowledge
- Understanding of cinema and television
- Creative writing
📌 Conducted only in Sinhala medium
2. Oral Test
- Shortlisted candidates from the written test will be invited
- Skills, creativity, and interest in the field will be assessed
🏃 Sports Science – Test Structure
The aptitude test includes:
- Physical Fitness Assessment
- Sports Achievement Evaluation
(Performance at International, National, Provincial, District, or Zonal level will be considered)
💳 Application Process
Applicants must pay Rs. 1,800 to the designated People’s Bank account and apply online via:

- CDM (Cash Deposit Machine)
- Online payment (Credit/Debit cards)
📌 Important:
- Keep the payment receipt (scan or soft copy required)
- Use a valid email address when applying
- Admission cards will be sent via email/SMS (not by post)
⚠️ Key Reminder
Passing the aptitude test alone does not guarantee university admission. Candidates must also meet the required Z-score cut-off determined by the UGC.
