Application for Grama Niladhari Service – 2025

The Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government has announced the Competitive Examination for Recruitment to Grade III of the Sri Lanka Grama Niladhari Service – 2025. Applications are now open from eligible male and female candidates across the country.

According to the Gazette dated October 24, 2025, the written examination will be conducted by the Department of Examinations, Sri Lanka in December 2025. The recruitment aims to fill vacant Grama Niladhari positions in Divisional Secretariat Divisions throughout the island.

Examination Details

The examination will be held in Sinhala, Tamil, and English mediums and will consist of three papers:

Language Use and Comprehension – 100 marks (1½ hours)
General Knowledge on Local and Global Trends – 100 marks (1½ hours)
Aptitude Test – 100 marks (1 hour)

Candidates must secure at least 40 marks in each paper to qualify.

Eligibility Criteria

Age: Between 21 and 35 years as of November 24, 2025.
Residency: Permanent resident for three consecutive years within the relevant Divisional Secretariat Division.
Education:
- Passed G.C.E. (O/L) with six subjects including Sinhala/Tamil and Mathematics, with at least four credit passes in one sitting.
- Passed G.C.E. (A/L) in one sitting (excluding General Paper and General English).
Candidates must be Sri Lankan citizens of good character and not convicted of any criminal offence.

Selection Procedure

Qualified applicants based on the written examination will be called for an eligibility evaluation interview. Marks will be awarded for leadership, sports skills, computer knowledge, and language proficiency. Successful candidates will undergo a three-month training program under the supervision of the District Secretary. Trainees will receive an allowance of Rs. 17,800 during training.

Salary and Service Conditions

Salary Scale: Rs. 50,630 – 84,960 (as per Public Administration Circular No. 10/2025).
The post is permanent and pensionable.
Officers must serve within the same Divisional Secretariat Division for at least three years.
