In a continued effort to promote sustainability and environmental responsibility, the Sri Lankan government, through the Central Environmental Authority (CEA), is set to host the highly anticipated Presidential Environment Awards 2025. This prestigious initiative, which began in 2011, aims to recognize individuals, institutions, and industries making significant contributions to environmental conservation and sustainable development.
As part of the government’s “Clean Sri Lanka” program, the Presidential Environment Awards honor a diverse range of stakeholders, including businesses, government and private institutions, schools, non-governmental organizations, and media professionals. The awards not only provide state recognition but also encourage greater community involvement in sustainable activities.
Encouraging Environmental Stewardship
By acknowledging and rewarding excellence in environmental conservation, the awards aim to:
- Inspire industries and institutions to adopt eco-friendly practices.
- Encourage community participation in sustainability efforts.
- Promote sustainable interventions for industrial development.

The 2025 awards ceremony will recognize winners under 24 categories, spanning across two main sectors: Industry, Business, and Project Sector, and Institutions, Society, and Mass Media.
