Open University Extends Deadline for BA (Hons) in English and English Language Teaching (2024/2025)

The Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL) has announced an extension for applications for the BA (Hon) in English and English Language Teaching program for the 2024/2025 academic year. The four-year undergraduate program is available at the university’s regional centers in Colombo, Kandy, Matara, Jaffna, and Batticaloa and requires students to participate in both online and onsite academic activities.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

1. OUSL Diploma Holders in English Language & Literature.
2. Holders of a Diploma in Teaching English (ESL) from a National College of Education (NCOE).
3. Graduates of other recognized 2-year Teacher Training programs in Teaching English as a Second Language.
4. Candidates with at least three A/L passes, including English Literature, or an equivalent qualification.

Note: Except for applicants in category (1), all others must pass a selection test conducted by the Department of Language Studies.

• Application Fee: Rs. 750/- (Payable online via debit/credit card or in cash at regional centers)
• Issue of Applications: December 30, 2024
• Closing Date for Applications: March 15, 2025
• Selection Test: March 30, 2025 (10:00 AM – 11:30 AM) at all regional centers
