Postgraduate Diploma in Bilingual Education (PGDip in BE) 2026/2027
The Postgraduate Institute of English (PGIE) of the Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL), in collaboration with the Bilingual Education Branch of the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education, invites applications for the Postgraduate Diploma in Bilingual Education for the 2026/2027 academic year.
This is the only postgraduate-level bilingual education programme offered in Sri Lanka, designed specifically to equip teachers and educators delivering non-language subjects in the English medium with modern Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) pedagogy. The Ministry of Education will sponsor the full course fee for 45 selected educators serving in the Bilingual Education programme.

ශ්‍රී ලංකා විවෘත විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ ඉංග්‍රීසි භාෂා පශ්චාත් උපාධි ආයතනය (PGIE) සහ අධ්‍යාපන අමාත්‍යාංශය ඒකාබද්ධව පවත්වනු ලබන ද්විභාෂා අධ්‍යාපනය පිළිබඳ පශ්චාත් උපාධි ඩිප්ලෝමා පාඨමාලාව (2026/2027) සඳහා අයදුම්පත් කැඳවා ඇත. රජයේ පාසල්වල ද්විභාෂා අධ්‍යාපන ගුරුවරුන්, ගුරු උපදේශකවරුන් සහ සම්බන්ධීකාරකවරුන් අතරින් සුදුසුකම් සපුරාලන 45 දෙනෙකු සඳහා සම්පූර්ණ පාඨමාලා ගාස්තුව අධ්‍යාපන අමාත්‍යාංශය මගින් දරනු ලැබේ. අයදුම්පත් භාරගන්නා අවසන් දිනය 2026 නොවැම්බර් 22 වේ.

இலங்கை திறந்த பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் ஆங்கில முதுகலை நிறுவனம் (PGIE) மற்றும் கல்வி அமைச்சு இணைந்து நடாத்தும் இருமொழிசார் கல்விக்கான முதுகலை டிப்ளோமா (Postgraduate Diploma in Bilingual Education) கற்கைநெறிக்கு விண்ணப்பங்கள் கோரப்பட்டுள்ளன. அரசாங்கப் பாடசாலைகளில் கடமையாற்றும் 45 தகுதியான இருமொழி ஆசிரியர்களுக்கு முழுமையான புலமைப்பரிசில்களை கல்வி அமைச்சு வழங்கவுள்ளது. விண்ணப்ப முடிவுத் திகதி 2026 நவம்பர் 22 ஆகும்.

Target Group & Eligibility Criteria
Target Group: Bilingual Education (BE) teachers in government schools teaching non-language subjects in English, In-Service Advisors (ISAs), and Zonal or Provincial Bilingual Education Coordinators with direct involvement in the programme.
- Educational & Professional Qualifications (Possess at least one):
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university at SLQF Level 5 or above; OR
- Professional qualification equivalent to NVQ Level 7; OR
- Postgraduate Certificate from the Postgraduate Institute of English (PGIE), OUSL; OR
- Teacher Training Certificate from a recognized institution with at least 08 years of teaching experience; OR
- Equivalent or higher qualification approved by the Senate of OUSL.
- Service Requirement: Must currently be serving as an active BE teacher, ISA, or BE Coordinator with direct access to bilingual classes, having completed a minimum of 2 years of service by November 22, 2026.
- Practicum Commitment: Candidates must complete a mandatory 100-hour Teaching Practicum during the programme.
