The Department of Technical Education and Training (DTET), under the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education, has officially published the admissions gazette for full-time and part-time vocational and technical courses for the 2027 academic year. Training programs are conducted across 39 Colleges of Technology and Technical Colleges island-wide.
Prospective students can apply online via the official portal (mis.dtet.gov.lk or www.dtet.gov.lk) or submit applications prepared on A4-sized paper as per the specimen format to the relevant College Director or Principal on or before December 04, 2026. Applications for NVQ Level 5 and Level 6 Diploma courses must be submitted strictly online.

தொழில்நுட்பக் கல்வி மற்றும் தொழிற்பயிற்சித் திணைக்களத்தின் (DTET) கீழுள்ள 39 தொழில்நுட்ப மற்றும் தொழினுட்பக் கல்லூரிகளில் 2027 ஆம் கல்வியாண்டிற்கான NVQ மட்டம் 3, 4, 5 மற்றும் 6 கற்கைநெறிகளுக்காக விண்ணப்பங்கள் கோரப்பட்டுள்ளன. மாணவர்கள் mis.dtet.gov.lk இணையத்தளத்தினூடாக இணையவழியாகவோ அல்லது மாதிரி விண்ணப்பப்படிவத்தின் ஊடாக பதிவுத் தபாலிலோ 2026 டிசம்பர் 04 ஆம் திகதிக்கு முன்னர் விண்ணப்பிக்க முடியும்.

Student Welfare, Benefits & Financial Incentives
- Monthly Allowance: Full-time students from low-income families are eligible for a monthly attendance-based financial stipend of up to Rs. 7,500/- under the Nipunatha Sisu Saviya scheme.
- Subsidized Travel: Eligible full-time students can obtain concessional bus season tickets (SLTB) and train season passes.
- Free Practical Materials: Training raw materials and practical workshop equipment are provided free of charge by the government.
- Mandatory Industrial Training (OJT): All full-time courses under NVQ Levels 4, 5, and 6 feature compulsory on-the-job training in recognized industries to boost employability.

Step-by-Step Application Procedure
- Online Method (Recommended): Visit mis.dtet.gov.lk or www.dtet.gov.lk, complete the online registration form, and submit before December 04, 2026. (Compulsory for NVQ 5 & 6 Diplomas).
- Postal Method (For NVQ 3 & 4 only): If unable to apply online, prepare an application on an A4 sheet following the official specimen form. Write the course name and course code clearly on the top left-hand corner of the envelope.
- Address Envelope To: The Director or Principal of the respective Technical College / College of Technology where the course is conducted. Applications can also be submitted by hand to the College Career Guidance Unit.
- Minimum Age: Applicants must be at least 16 years of age as of December 04, 2026.
- Do Not Attach Original Certificates: No educational or identity certificates should be attached to the initial application form. Original certificates must be presented at the time of the interview.
