Master of Teacher Education (MTE) Degree Programme 2026/2027

The Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL), through the Faculty of Education, invites online applications from eligible education professionals for admission to the Master of Teacher Education (MTE) Degree Programme for the 2026/2027 academic intake. This postgraduate programme is specifically designed to enhance professional competencies, curriculum design, pedagogy, educational leadership, and research practices among teacher educators.

Conducted trilingually in Sinhala, Tamil, and English, all academic contact sessions and activities take place exclusively at the Colombo Regional Centre (Nawala). Online applications opened on November 01, 2026, and will close on November 20, 2026.

ගුරු අධ්‍යාපනපති (MTE) උපාධි වැඩසටහන 2026/2027 – ශ්‍රී ලංකා විවෘත විශ්වවිද්‍යාලය

ශ්‍රී ලංකා විවෘත විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ (OUSL) අධ්‍යාපන පීඨය මඟින් පවත්වනු ලබන ගුරු අධ්‍යාපනපති (Master of Teacher Education – MTE) උපාධි වැඩසටහන සඳහා අයදුම්පත් කැඳවා ඇත. B.Ed උපාධියක් හෝ ප්‍රථම උපාධිය සමඟ PGDE සුදුසුකම් සපුරා ඇති ගුරු අධ්‍යාපනඥ සේවය (SLTES), අධ්‍යාපන පරිපාලන සේවය (SLEAS), විදුහල්පතිවරුන් සහ ගුරු උපදේශකවරුන් ඇතුළු නිලධාරීන්ට මේ සඳහා අයදුම් කළ හැකිය. අයදුම්පත් 2026 නොවැම්බර් 20 දින දක්වා මාර්ගගතව පමණක් ඉදිරිපත් කළ යුතුය.

இலங்கை திறந்த பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் கல்விப்பீடத்தினால் நடாத்தப்படும் ஆசிரியர் கல்வியில் முதுமாணி (Master of Teacher Education – MTE) கற்கைநெறிக்கு தகுதியானவர்களிடமிருந்து விண்ணப்பங்கள் கோரப்பட்டுள்ளன. B.Ed பட்டம் அல்லது பட்டத்துடன் கல்வியில் பட்டமேற்படிப்பு டிப்ளோமா (PGDE) பெற்ற ஆசிரியர் கல்வியியலாளர்கள், விரிவுரையாளர்கள், அதிபர்கள் மற்றும் கல்வி நிர்வாக உத்தியோகத்தர்கள் இப்பட்டப்படிப்பிற்கு விண்ணப்பிக்கலாம். விண்ணப்பங்கள் 2026 நவம்பர் 20 வரை இணையவழியில் மாத்திரமே ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளப்படும்.

Admission Criteria: Academic & Employment Requirements

Applicants must satisfy both the academic qualifications and the designated professional employment conditions:

1. Academic Qualifications (Possess at least one)

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed) from a recognized university; OR
• A Bachelor’s Degree together with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from a recognized university; OR
• Any equivalent or higher qualification acceptable to the Senate of The Open University of Sri Lanka.

2. Employment Requirements (Must currently hold one of the following permanent posts)

• Academic staff member of a recognized university.
• Officer in the Sri Lanka Teacher Educator Service (SLTES).
• Lecturer at a National College of Education / Teacher Training College.
• Principal of a Government or Government-approved school (including approved private or international schools) holding a confirmed Principal Grade.
• Officer engaged in teacher education at the National Institute of Education (NIE).
• In-Service Teacher Advisor (ISA) attached to a Teacher Centre, Ministry of Education, or Provincial Ministry of Education.
• Officer in the Sri Lanka Educational Administrative Service (SLEAS).

Step-by-Step Online Application Process

1. Access the official OUSL online admission portal: apply.lmsousl.lk.
2. Register an applicant profile and select Master of Teacher Education (MTE) under the Faculty of Education.
3. Fill out all required fields regarding your primary degree, PGDE, current institutional appointment, and service history.
4. Pay the non-refundable application fee of Rs. 1,000/- using a valid debit/credit card online, or make a cash payment at any OUSL Regional or Study Centre and upload the payment receipt.
5. Upload scanned copies of required documents (Degree Certificate, PGDE Certificate, Service Confirmation Letter, NIC) and submit before November 20, 2026.
