The Ministry of Education has officially cancelled the previous Subaha Scholarship circular and released a new directive under Circular No: 26/2025, dated 31.07.2025, introducing significant updates to the scholarship scheme. The revised circular is applicable to students who sat for the GCE O/L examination in 2023 and onwards.
The Subaha Scholarship is designed to support A/L students to continue their higher education by providing financial assistance. As per the new scheme, each selected student will receive a total grant of Rs. 50,000.
Province-wise Scholarship Allocation:
- Western Province – 200 Scholarships
- Central Province – 135 Scholarships
- Southern Province – 125 Scholarships
- Wayamba Province – 125 Scholarships
- Sabaragamuwa Province – 100 Scholarships
- Eastern Province – 95 Scholarships
- North Central Province – 75 Scholarships
- Uva Province – 75 Scholarships
- Northern Province – 70 Scholarships
The circular outlines the updated eligibility criteria, application procedures, and evaluation criteria. It also emphasizes that only the revised circular (No. 26/2025) will be valid for the selection process.
