The Department of Examinations has opened online applications for the General Information Technology (GIT) Examination 2026. The examination is strictly for Grade 12 students studying in 2026, who are expected to sit for the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination for the first time in 2027.

Key Information for Schools and Applicants

  • Target Student Group: Applications are strictly restricted to Grade 12 students studying in the year 2026 (who are scheduled to sit for the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination for the first time in 2027).
  • Application Mode: The process must be completed strictly online. School authorities can log in using their existing usernames and passwords via the official portal at https://doenets.lk under the “Exam Information Center” or directly through https://onlineexams.gov.lk/eic.
  • Accuracy of Medium: Principals and teachers are requested to pay utmost care when entering data. The requested medium of examination cannot be changed later for any reason.

Guidelines for Download and Verification

After entering the data online, school authorities must download and print a hard copy of the application to verify accuracy and obtain the signatures of the candidates. This physical copy should be safely stored and only presented to the Department of Examinations if explicitly requested. Principals are fully responsible for cross-checking the downloaded PDF data with their internal Excel files to ensure no student is left out.

Students with Special Education Needs

Special provisions are being arranged for candidates with visual, hearing, or other special educational needs. Schools must fill out the “Special Education Needs Students’ Additional Data” section. Dedicated exam centers will be established at institutions such as the School for the Blind in Ratmalana and the School for the Deaf/Blind in Polommaruwa, Tangalle.

Strict Identity Verification Rules

Every student appearing for the GIT 2026 exam must prove their identity to the hall supervisor. Only the following documents will be accepted as valid proof of identity:

  1. National Identity Card (NIC) issued by the Department of Registration of Persons.
  2. Valid Passport.
  3. Valid Driving License.

Important Note: No other identity documents or school IDs will be accepted. School principals are advised to assist students in obtaining their NICs well in advance.
