The Department of Examinations has officially announced that the GCE O/L Examination 2024 (2025) will be held from March 17 to March 26, 2025.
Admission cards for school candidates have already been sent to the respective school heads, while private candidates have received them by post. Schools are instructed to immediately distribute the admission cards to students without any delay.
Admission Cards for Private Candidates
Private candidates who have not yet received their admission cards can download them online from March 7, 2025, by visiting www.doenets.lk. Those unable to access the admission card online should visit the Department of Examinations in person with a copy of their application and payment receipt to obtain their card.
Changes to Examination Details
Candidates wishing to make changes to their subject, medium, or name must do so online via http://onlineexams.gov.lk/eic before 12:00 midnight on March 10, 2025. However, examination centers cannot be changed. Each candidate will be allowed only one attempt to make any revisions.
Strict Examination Rules & Prohibitions
The Department of Examinations has emphasized strict rules for candidates:
- Impersonation, cheating, and misconduct inside the exam hall are punishable offenses under the Examinations Act.
- Calculators and correction fluid are not allowed.
- Private candidates cannot sit for the exam while still enrolled in a government school.
- Electronic devices (mobile phones, smartwatches, etc.) are strictly prohibited. Violators face a five-year exam ban and device confiscation.
- Candidates must keep their ears and faces visible during the exam to prevent the use of Bluetooth or other communication devices.
Identity Verification
Candidates must present a National Identity Card (NIC), valid Passport, or Driving License for identification purposes at the examination.
