The Parliament of Sri Lanka has announced vacancies for the positions of Parliamentary Interpreters in multiple language streams. Applications are invited from qualified Sri Lankan citizens for these positions under the Office of the Secretary-General of Parliament.
Available Positions
The vacancies are as follows:
- Parliamentary Interpreter (Sinhala/English/Sinhala) – 01 Position
- Parliamentary Interpreter (Sinhala/Tamil/Sinhala) – 02 Positions
- Parliamentary Interpreter (English/Tamil/English) – 08 Positions
Salary & Benefits
The monthly salary for these positions falls under the scale Rs. 47,340 – 62,995, with total initial remuneration, including allowances, amounting to approximately Rs. 110,000.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must meet either of the following qualification criteria:
(A) Degree Holders:
- A degree recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
- Language proficiency in the relevant stream.
- G.C.E. (O/L) with six subjects, including Mathematics and a relevant language.
- Minimum two years of experience in teaching, translation, or interpretation.
(B) G.C.E. Advanced Level Holders:
- G.C.E. (A/L) with four subjects (old syllabus) or three subjects (new syllabus).
- G.C.E. (O/L) with six subjects, including Mathematics and relevant languages.
- Minimum five years of experience in a language-related field.
Candidates should have strong simultaneous interpretation skills.
Selection Process
The recruitment process includes:
- Practical Test – Simultaneous interpretation evaluation.
- Written Test – Language proficiency assessment.
- Interview – Assessment of experience, qualifications, and interpretation skills.
