The Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management (SLITHM) has announced the intake for its new Chauffeur Tourist Guide Programme 2026, inviting aspiring tourism professionals to apply before the deadline of February 8, 2026.
The programme is designed to turn passion into a professional career in tourism, specifically targeting individuals who wish to specialize as Chauffeur Tourist Guides. The five-month, full-time course will be conducted at SLITHM centers in Colombo, Anuradhapura, and Kandy.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the programme, applicants must be citizens of Sri Lanka between the ages of 23 and 65. In addition to age requirements, candidates must meet one of the following educational or professional criteria:
- Passed G.C.E. (O/L) with six subjects (in at least two sittings).
- Hold an NVQ Level 03/04 qualification in Tour Guiding.
- Possess five years of experience as an Area Tourist Guide.
- Possess eight years of experience as a Site Tourist Guide.
Mandatory Driving Requirement: Irrespective of the educational path, all applicants must possess a valid driving license for 07-seater vehicles, which must have been held for a minimum period of five (05) years.
Focus on Language Proficiency
SLITHM has highlighted a strong preference for candidates proficient in languages other than English. Applicants fluent in French, German, Korean, Italian, Chinese, Spanish, Hindi, Russian, Japanese, or Greek will be given priority during the selection process.

- Selection Process: Candidates will be selected based on a language competency test (placement test) and an interview.
