The Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL) has invited applications for the BEd (Hons) in Natural Sciences for the 2026/2027 academic year, targeting aspiring and in-service science teachers across the country.
This programme is offered at Level 05 and Level 06 and is designed to strengthen both subject knowledge and professional competencies required for effective science teaching at secondary level.
Admission Requirements: BEd (Hons) in Natural Sciences
Level 05
Applicants should fulfill one of the following criteria:
- Be a B.Sc. or B.Ed. (Natural Sciences) student of OUSL with passes in all courses (60 credits) at Levels 3 and 4 of science courses, or
- Hold a B.Sc. (Natural Sciences) degree from a recognized university, or
- Possess a Diploma in Science from the Faculty of Natural Sciences, OUSL.
Level 06
Applicants should:
- Have completed all courses (30 credits) at Level 5 of the B.Ed. (Honours) in Natural Sciences programme, or
- Be exempted from all Level 5 courses and have passes in all courses (60 credits) at Levels 3 and 4 of science courses.
Special Exemption
- Completion of a 3-year National Diploma in Teaching (Science/Mathematics) from a National College of Education is accepted for exemption from Level 5.
