• Complete Exemption from Efficiency Bar III: Teachers due for promotion to Grade I of the Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service between October 23, 2022, and June 30, 2025, are completely exempt from the requirement of completing Efficiency Bar III.
• Relief for Preceding EB Requirements: Teachers who previously secured grade promotions subject to the condition that they must complete the preceding grade’s Efficiency Bar prior to their subsequent promotion date are now fully exempted from that prior EB requirement.
• Temporary Exemption for Grade Promotions Post-June 2025: Teachers whose grade promotions fell due between June 30, 2025, and the date of the respective Efficiency Bar Examination are entitled to receive their promotions without requiring the completion of modules or EB examinations.

The reference dates determining cutoff points for promotional relief are guided by the official Gazette notifications calling for each Efficiency Bar Examination:

• Promotions Falling After Exam Dates: Teachers whose grade promotions fall due after the scheduled date of their relevant EB examination must appear for and pass the written examination as stipulated under the amended Teachers’ Service Minute.
• Exemption for Module Completers: Teachers who have already completed the requisite self-study modules under the previous system for their next promotion are not required to sit for the new EB examinations and are entitled to their promotion on the due date.
• Official Cutoff Benchmarks: The Department of Examinations’ officially scheduled examination date will strictly serve as the operational cutoff benchmark for administering these promotional concessions.
