In terms of Public Administration Circular 10/2025, the monthly executive salary scale assigned under Salary Code: SL-01-2025 is:
Rs. 82,150 – 2,400 × 10 – 2,940 × 8 – 3,900 × 17 – Rs. 195,970/= per month
- Appointment Status: Permanent and pensionable, subject to statutory contributions to the Widows’ and Orphans’ (W&OP) pension scheme.
- Probation & Efficiency Bar: Appointees are subject to a one-year probation or acting period and must pass the 1st Efficiency Bar Examination within three (03) years of recruitment.
- Islandwide Transferability: Appointed officers are subject to transfer anywhere on the island and may be temporarily seconded to the Provincial Public Service as required administratively.
All qualifying active service and credentials must be completed on or before October 16, 2026:
1. Agricultural Development Stream (Post Code 1) – Fulfill any one:
- Officers in the Sri Lanka Technological Service (Special Class) holding the post of Agricultural Instructor; OR
- Agricultural Instructors with at least 10 years of active, satisfactory service in the SLTS or Provincial Technological Service; OR
- Officers in the Associated Officer Service category holding a 4-year degree in Agriculture from a UGC-recognized university with at least 5 years of active, satisfactory service performing duties in the Department of Agriculture or Provincial Agriculture Departments; OR
- Horticultural Assistants with at least 10 years of active, satisfactory service; OR
- Agricultural Instructors or Horticultural Assistants possessing a Degree in Agricultural Science / Science with at least 5 years of active, satisfactory service.
2. Agricultural Economics Stream (Post Code 3) – Fulfill any one:
- Assistant Economists with a minimum of 5 years of active and satisfactory service; OR
- Associated Officer Service category officers holding a recognized 4-year Agriculture degree with at least 5 years of active, satisfactory service in related department duties.
3. Agricultural Research Stream (Post Code 2) – Fulfill any one:
- Research Assistants, Soil Surveyors, or Land Valuation/Assessment Officers in the Special Class of SLTS; OR
- Research Assistants, Soil Surveyors, or Land Valuation Officers with at least 10 years of active service in the SLTS; OR
- Officers in the Associated Service category holding a 4-year degree in Agriculture or a 4-year B.Sc. Special Degree in Botany, Chemistry, or Zoology with 5 years of active service in the Department; OR
- Research Assistants, Soil Surveyors, or Land Valuation Officers with a relevant Science / Agricultural degree and 5 years of active service.
The competitive examination will be held in Sinhala, Tamil, and English in Colombo. Candidates must score at least 40% in each individual paper to qualify for the interview:

Structured Interview & Merit Order: Shortlisted candidates scoring 40% or above in both papers will be summoned for an interview where document verification is conducted and marks for seniority are awarded (maximum 30 marks: 2 marks per year of satisfactory service; 1 mark for periods of 180+ days). Final selection will be determined strictly in order of total merit (Written Exam Score + Seniority Marks).
