The National Institute of Education (NIE) has officially issued a Call for Expression of Interest (EOI) inviting qualified academic and professional experts to contribute to upcoming curriculum development activities for Junior Secondary Education (Grades 6–9) across Sinhala, Tamil, and English media. This initiative aims to bring together dynamic educators, researchers, and subject experts to enhance national secondary education standards.
🧩 Key Scope of Work & Contribution Roles
Selected resource persons will be engaged across various specialized capacities depending on their subject expertise:
- Writing Panels: Drafting curriculum materials and educational content.
- Editing Panels: Refining content quality, structure, and readability.
- Review Committees: Independent evaluations of curriculum products.
- Training of Trainers (ToT) Programmes: Facilitating capacity-building and educator training.
- Translation Services & Language Editing: Ensuring quality content translation and linguistic consistency where applicable.
✅ Who Can Apply?
The EOI is open to qualified professionals from several sectors of Sri Lanka’s education and professional landscape:
Higher Education Sector
Senior Professors, Professors, Senior Lecturers, Lecturers, and academic personnel from recognized Sri Lankan universities.
Teacher Education Sector
Members of the Sri Lanka Teacher Educators’ Service (SLTES) based at National Colleges of Education (NCoEs), Teacher Training Colleges, and Teacher Development Centres.
School Education Sector
Officers and educators from the Sri Lanka Education Administrative Service (SLEAS), Sri Lanka Principals’ Service (SLPS), Sri Lanka Teacher Advisory Service (SLTAS), and Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service (SLTS).
Specialized Field Experts
Technical Experts, ICT Specialists, Language Editors, and Educational Assessment Specialists.
⚖️ Terms, Evaluation & Selection Safeguards
Applications will be evaluated based on formal academic/professional qualifications, relevant curriculum development or teaching experience, and overall professional standing. NIE aims to ensure transparency, quality, and fair representation across provinces, genders, and language media.
Important Policy Safeguards
- Independent Review Safeguard: Applicants selected to serve on a Review Committee must not have participated in the Writing, Editing, or Training panels for that specific curriculum product.
- Remuneration: Selected external resource persons will be compensated according to standard Sri Lankan Government Financial Regulations and NIE financial guidelines.
- Public Disclosure: To maintain transparency, the names, designations, institutions, and assigned roles of appointed resource persons will be published on the official NIE website.
