The Ministry of Education has released the updated 2026 edition of the “Handbook of School Counselling and Career Guidance Centers Management” (C2 Center Handbook) for use in schools across the country.
According to the Ministry, this new handbook replaces the previous version issued in 2024, and all schools, education officers, counsellors, and Career Guidance Centers are advised to discontinue the use of the old handbook and adopt the updated 2026 edition with immediate effect.
The revised handbook provides updated guidelines and operational procedures for the effective management of School Counselling and Career Guidance Centers. It aims to strengthen counselling services, career guidance activities, student support mechanisms, and administrative practices within schools.
Available Languages
The updated handbook has been made available in all three official languages:
- English Version
- Sinhala Version
- Tamil Version
School principals, counsellors, teacher counsellors, and educational administrators are encouraged to download and refer to the latest version to ensure compliance with current Ministry guidelines.
Important Notice
The Ministry has specifically instructed that the 2024 handbook should no longer be used, and that all future counselling and career guidance center activities should be conducted in accordance with the newly issued 2026 edition.
