The Ministry of Education has issued a public notice strictly prohibiting the organization of private coaching classes for students sitting the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination 2025, which is scheduled to be held on August 10, 2025.
According to the notice, issued under the provisions of the 1968 Public Examinations Act No. 25 and Gazette No. 1927/49 dated 12.08.2015, any coaching, group classes, or tutoring sessions targeting Grade 5 students in preparation for the exam are strictly forbidden from August 6, 2025.
The decision is taken to ensure a fair and stress-free environment for young students and to eliminate the excessive pressure and commercialization associated with competitive coaching during the lead-up to this national examination.
The Ministry emphasized that:
- Teachers, parents, and education officers are requested to support this initiative by avoiding exam-oriented extra classes.
- All tuition centers and private individuals are warned against conducting any related sessions, workshops, or preparatory activities.
- Violation of this regulation will result in legal action under the examination ordinance.
The Ministry urges all stakeholders to create a child-friendly educational culture and to respect these guidelines. School heads are responsible for ensuring that no such activities take place within their premises or under their supervision.
