What is the Fulbright Scholar Award for Sri Lankans?
The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program provides outstanding Sri Lankan professionals and scholars with the opportunity to conduct postdoctoral research, lecturing, artistic performances, or capacity-building projects at prestigious U.S. universities, research institutions, or organizations for a period of 3 to 6 months.

Who Can Apply? Eligibility Requirements
Open to:
- Scholars: Individuals with a Ph.D. and minimum 5 years of professional experience for postdoctoral research or lecturing.
- Professionals & Artists: Those with minimum 5 years of significant professional/artistic experience who wish to undertake a collaborative project that builds capacity in Sri Lanka.
Key Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a Sri Lankan citizen
- Have continuously resided in Sri Lanka for the last 2 years
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in your field
- Strong English language proficiency
- Must secure a Letter of Invitation from a U.S. host institution
- Commitment to return and reside in Sri Lanka for at least 2 years after the grant (preferably 5 years)
- Not holding U.S. permanent residency or dual citizenship

To apply, you must complete the online application and upload all required documents including:
- Detailed Project Proposal
- Letter of Invitation from a U.S. university/institution
- Letter of Support / Approval of Leave from your current employer
- Updated CV and other supporting documents
