The Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL) has officially announced the extension of applications for its B.Ed Honours in Natural Sciences (Level 03/04) programme for the academic year 2025/2026. This initiative aims to cater to the growing demand for professionally qualified Science and Mathematics teachers across the country.
Designed with Future Educators in Mind
Specially crafted for prospective Science and Mathematics teachers, this inter-faculty programme is a collaborative effort between the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Natural Sciences at OUSL. The degree provides a strong foundation in subject knowledge while preparing students for impactful teaching careers.
Recognized National Degree Under UGC
The B.Ed Honours in Natural Sciences is an internal degree from a recognized national university under the University Grants Commission (UGC). The 6-year programme includes:
- 2 years at the Faculty of Natural Sciences (Levels 3 and 4)
- 4 years at the Faculty of Education (Levels 5 and 6)
Students can benefit from flexible study schedules, affordable fees, and the ability to earn a degree while continuing to work.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have:
- At least 3 GCE A/L passes in Science/Mathematics or equivalent qualifications.
- Successfully completed an Advanced Certificate in Science from the Open University of Sri Lanka or a recognized equivalent.
