The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has officially opened applications for the Allama Iqbal Scholarship Scheme 2026 for Sri Lankan students, offering both fully funded and partially funded scholarships to pursue higher education at leading universities in Pakistan.
The scholarship programme aims to strengthen educational ties and cultural understanding between Sri Lanka and Pakistan while providing talented Sri Lankan students with access to internationally recognized higher education opportunities.

Scholarship Benefits
Selected candidates may receive either a fully funded or partially funded scholarship.
Fully Funded Scholarship Includes:
- Full tuition fee coverage
- Monthly maintenance allowance

Partially Funded Scholarship Includes:
- Tuition fee coverage only
Students awarded partially funded scholarships will be responsible for covering their own living and other personal expenses.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the academic requirements relevant to their chosen programme.
For undergraduate studies in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, and Engineering, applicants should possess GCE Advanced Level qualifications with the required minimum marks. Master’s and doctoral applicants must hold the relevant academic qualifications with satisfactory academic performance.
Scholarships will be awarded on merit, and shortlisted candidates will be required to sit for an aptitude test organized by the Higher Education Commission in collaboration with relevant authorities.
Important Conditions
According to HEC Pakistan:
- Scholarships will be awarded strictly on merit.
- The medium of instruction will be English.
- Applicants already benefiting from another HEC scholarship are not eligible.
- Successful scholars are expected to return to Sri Lanka after completing their studies.
