The Bilingual Education Branch of the Ministry of Education has officially announced the National Level Presentation Competition for the year 2025, inviting students from grades 6 to 13 in government and government-approved private bilingual schools across the country.
The competition is designed to promote bilingualism, enhance effective communication skills, and foster self-confidence among young learners. This year’s themes are strategically chosen to engage students with pressing global issues, encouraging them to think critically about their role in the world.
Students in grades 6-9 (Junior Category) will explore the theme “Protect Environment for sustainable future,” while those in grades 10-13 (Senior Category) will tackle the more complex topic of “Climate change: A Global Threat, A local Responsibility.” These themes aim to connect classroom learning with real-world applications, inspiring creative and thoughtful presentations that develop essential 21st-century skills.
According to the guidelines released by the Ministry, the competition will be conducted in a three-tiered format:
- Zonal Level: Scheduled from July 1st to August 19th, 2025. The first-place team from each category will advance to the provincial round.
- Provincial Level: To be held on September 19th-20th, 2025. The top two teams from each category will earn a spot at the national finals.
- National Level: The grand finale is set for October 16th-17th, 2025, with an awards ceremony on November 6th, 2025.
Each competing team must consist of five bilingual students. Presentations are required to be original, with a strict limit of ten content slides. The Junior category teams will have 10 minutes to present, while Senior category teams will have 15 minutes. Judging will be based on content accuracy and creativity, presentation skills, quality of the PowerPoint slides, teamwork, and time management.
The Ministry has emphasized that the decision of the judging panels will be final and that all participating students must attend in their school uniforms.
Schools are advised to contact their zonal BE coordinators for further details and to submit their entries. The Bilingual Education Branch of the Ministry of Education can also be contacted directly at 011-2784255 for any inquiries.
