The Department of Examinations has officially announced the dates for two major national examinations scheduled for 2026.
Speaking at a media briefing held on 20 June 2026, Commissioner General of Examinations Indika Kumari Liyanage confirmed that the Grade 12 General Information Technology (GIT) Examination will be conducted on 24 October 2026.
In addition, the Commissioner General announced that the 2026 G.C.E. Ordinary Level (O/L) Examination will be held from 8 December 2026 to 17 December 2026.
The announcement provides students, teachers, school administrators, and parents with sufficient time to prepare for the upcoming examinations.
Grade 12 GIT Examination 2026
The General Information Technology (GIT) Examination is an important national examination for Grade 12 students following the Advanced Level curriculum.
Exam Date:
- October 24, 2026 (Saturday)
Students are advised to continue their preparations and await further instructions regarding examination centers and admission cards.
2026 O/L Exam Dates
The Department of Examinations has scheduled the 2026 G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination to be conducted over a ten-day period.
