Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Madhura Seneviratne, has announced that the 2025 GCE O/L Results are expected to be released in the coming week.
According to the Deputy Minister, the process of updating and finalizing candidate information is currently in its final stage, and necessary preparations are being completed before the official release of the examination results.
The 2025 GCE Ordinary Level Examination was conducted from 17 February to 26 February 2026, with a total of 451,463 candidates sitting for the examination across the country.
Ministry Issues Special Notice on Completion of Syllabi
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education has issued an important notice regarding the completion of syllabi for the 2026 GCE Ordinary Level (O/L) and General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (A/L) examinations.
In a circular addressed to principals of government and government-approved private schools, as well as senior education officials, Ministry Secretary Nalaka Kaluwewa emphasized the importance of completing the prescribed syllabi on time.
The Secretary instructed school authorities to take proactive measures where delays in syllabus coverage are identified. Schools have been advised to engage in advance planning and, where necessary, allocate additional instructional time to ensure that all subject content is completed before the examinations.
2026 O/L and A/L Examinations Will Be Held as Scheduled
The Ministry further clarified that both the 2026 GCE Ordinary Level Examination and the 2026 GCE Advanced Level Examination will be conducted according to the dates specified in the national academic calendar.
Secretary Nalaka Kaluwewa stressed that schools must take responsibility for completing the relevant syllabi and ensuring that students are adequately prepared for the examinations.
The announcement comes amid growing public interest regarding the release of the 2025 O/L examination results, with thousands of students and parents awaiting the outcome.
Students are advised to regularly check official announcements from the Department of Examinations and the Ministry of Education for further updates regarding the release of results.
