The National Institute of Education (NIE) has announced an extension of application deadlines for its Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) and Master of Education (M.Ed.) Degree programs for the 2025/2026 intake.
The PGDE, a Sri Lanka Qualifications Framework (SLQF) Level 08 program, is a part-time, 18-month course designed to enhance the pedagogical and leadership skills of educators, including teachers, lecturers, education officers, and administrative staff. Initially set to close on March 31, 2025, the deadline for PGDE applications has now been extended to April 11, 2025.
Meanwhile, the M.Ed. program, which is an SLQF Level 09 qualification leading to further academic progression, has also been granted an extended application deadline, moving from March 31, 2025, to April 4, 2025. This part-time program caters to experienced educators aiming to elevate their professional credentials and career prospects.
Both programs are offered in Sinhala and Tamil, with select courses available in English. NIE provides flexible learning options across multiple study centers island-wide to accommodate working professionals.
