Ministry of Education: National Reading Month & School Library Week Guidelines – October 2026
2026 ඔක්තෝබර් ජාතික කියවීම් මාසය, පාසල් පුස්තකාල සතිය (ඔක්තෝබර් 26–30) සහ ජාත්යන්තර පාසල් පුස්තකාල දිනය (ඔක්තෝබර් 26) සැමරීම සඳහා අධ්යාපන, උසස් අධ්යාපන හා වෘත්තීය අධ්යාපන අමාත්යාංශය විසින් සියලුම පළාත්, කලාප සහ පාසල් වෙත විධිමත් මාර්ගෝපදේශ චක්රලේඛය නිකුත් කර ඇත. “කියවීමට හුරු වෙමු – අනාගතය දිනමු” යන්න මෙවර තේමාව වේ.
2026 ஒக்டோபர் தேசிய வாசிப்பு மாதம், பாடசாலை நூலக வாரம் (ஒக்டோபர் 26–30) மற்றும் சர்வதேச பாடசாலை நூலக தினத்தை (ஒக்டோபர் 26) முன்னிட்டு கல்வி, உயர் கல்வி மற்றும் தொழிற்கல்வி அமைச்சு அனைத்து பாடசாலைகளுக்குமான வழிகாட்டல் சுற்றறிக்கையினை வெளியிட்டுள்ளது. “வாசிக்கக் கற்றுக்கொள்வோம் – எதிர்காலத்தை வெல்வோம்” எனும் தொனிப்பொருளில் நாடளாவிய ரீதியில் விசேட செயற்றிட்டங்கள் முன்னெடுக்கப்படவுள்ளன.

- Community & School Engagement: Schools must organize book fairs, reading camps, reading circles, and interactive forums with authors, illustrators, and literary critics. The circular promotes the “Human Library” framework, literary documentary screenings, and “Best Reader” accolades for students and teachers.
- Classroom-Level Activities: Every classroom is directed to maintain active reading corners and wall newspapers. Teachers are encouraged to hold subject-specific reading initiatives (e.g., science and mathematics reading camps) and structured literary debates.
- Comprehension & Literacy Techniques: School Library Learning Resource Centers must instruct students in structured reading approaches including the SQ3R and KWL techniques. Activities will also incorporate visual literacy (maps, stamps, flags, cartoons) and digital/subtitle reading skills.
- Curriculum Integration: Every subject teacher must conduct at least two lessons during October using reading-centered pedagogical methodologies, integrating tools such as the KWL chart, Pyramid method, and Cornell note-taking system.
