The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education has announced an exclusive foreign scholarship initiative to support high-achieving students from the 2024 G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination in pursuing Bachelor’s degrees at prestigious international universities.
Target: 25–50 scholarships in the first phase (2026 academic year), expanding to 200 between 2025–2029.
Eligibility:
- Sri Lankan citizenship.
- Excellent results at 2024 G.C.E. A/L Examination.
- Minimum 30% in Common General Paper.
- Minimum “C” in A/L General English (or equivalent).
- Good health and readiness to study abroad.
Fields of Study: Priority for globally emerging fields and courses not available in Sri Lankan state universities.
University Criteria: Must be in Top 500 of QS, THE, or ARWU (Shanghai) rankings.
Scholarship Coverage:
- Tuition & academic fees.
- Monthly stipend for food and accommodation.
- Health insurance.
- Round-trip airfare.
- Up to Rs. 20 million per year per student.
Bond Agreement: Recipients must return to Sri Lanka after graduation and contribute to national development.
