The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Land & Irrigation has officially invited applications for the open competitive examination to recruit personnel for several key technical positions within the Survey Department’s Technological Service.
According to the gazette notification issued on December 19, 2025, the department is looking to fill a total of 67 vacancies across four specialized designations:
- Map Technological Officer: 45 vacancies
- Photogrammetric Technician: 13 vacancies
- Litho Technician: 5 vacancies
- Remote Sensing Technician: 4 vacancies
Candidate Requirements and Training
Applicants must be Sri Lankan citizens between the ages of 18 and 30. Educational requirements include:
- G.C.E. (A/L): A pass in three subjects (Science, Mathematics, or Technology streams) at one sitting, including Combined Mathematics and Physics.
- G.C.E. (O/L): Credit passes in six subjects at one sitting, specifically in Sinhala/Tamil, English, Science, and Mathematics.
Selected candidates will initially enter a Training Grade, receiving a monthly allowance of Rs. 41,317 in the first year and Rs. 41,689 in the second. Upon successful completion of a two-year Diploma in Technology at the Institute of Surveying and Mapping in Diyatalawa, recruits will be appointed to Grade III of the service.
Examination and Application Process
The recruitment process will consist of a written examination featuring an Intelligence Test and a Subject Related Technological Paper (covering Algebra, Trigonometry, Statistics, Physics, and Geography) . Those who pass the written exam will be called for a general interview to verify qualifications.
