The Department of Wildlife Conservation has called for applications to recruit for 371 vacancies through an open competitive examination. These recruitments are based on the government Gazette notification dated December 05, 2025.
The detailed information regarding these job opportunities is as follows:
1. Wildlife Guard (Grade III)
- Number of Vacancies: 257.
- Age Limit: Must be not less than 18 years and not more than 30 years as of January 05, 2026.
- Educational Qualifications:
- Passed G.C.E. (Ordinary Level) in six (06) subjects with credit passes for four (04) subjects including Sinhala/Tamil/English Language, Mathematics, and Science in one sitting.
- Passed at least one (01) subject in the G.C.E. (Advanced Level) examination (excluding the General Common Test).
- Physical Qualifications:
- Male: Height must not be less than 5 feet 04 inches.
- Female: Height must not be less than 5 feet 02 inches.
- Salary Scale: A monthly allowance of Rs. 18,500 is paid during the 06-month training period. The salary scale applicable from 2027 is Rs. 45,230 – 78,360 (MN 1-2025).
- Note: 3% of the recruitment number is reserved for female applicants.
2. Wildlife Range Assistant (Grade III)
- Number of Vacancies: 114.
- Eligibility: Only male applicants can apply.
- Salary Scale: A monthly allowance of Rs. 22,500 is paid during the 06-month training period. The salary scale applicable from 2027 is Rs. 52,250 – 100,040 (MN 3-2025).
