Asidisi Media Scholarship Programme 2025 to Empower Sri Lankan Journalists

The Ministry of Health and Mass Media has announced the Asidisi Media Scholarship Programme 2025. This initiative offers a financial grant for journalists seeking professional training in media-related courses to enhance the credibility and competence of the local media landscape.

Targeting a Wide Range of Media Professionals

The scholarship is open to Sri Lankan journalists who serve in full-time or part-time capacities across recognized electronic and print media institutions. This includes freelance journalists, web journalists, media technicians, and provincial journalists.

Eligibility and Criteria

Applicants must:

• Have a minimum of three years of service in the media sector.
• Be between the ages of 18 and 55 years.
• Possess valid Media Accreditation from the Department of Government Information.
• Be either currently enrolled in or selected for Postgraduate, Diploma, Long-Term or Short-Term Certificate Courses related to media studies at recognized institutions.
• Be able to submit a letter of selection or confirmation from the course provider.

It is worth noting that a journalist can benefit from the scholarship twice but must have a gap of five years between applications.

Financial Support Offered

The Ministry offers financial assistance of up to:

• Rs. 200,000 for postgraduate or degree courses.
• Rs. 100,000 for certificate or short-term training programs.

Scholarship recipients will receive 50% of the funds upon selection, while the remaining 50% will be paid after the course certificate is submitted.

Selection Process

Eligible candidates will undergo an interview conducted by a Selection Committee appointed by the Ministry. The final list will be approved by the Secretary of the Ministry.
