The Department of Official Languages has officially announced the commencement of its multi-language certificate programs for the 2026 academic year. Aimed at enhancing linguistic proficiency across the island, the department is offering a wide array of courses designed for both professional and personal development.
Diverse Language Offerings
The 2026 intake covers eight major languages, catering to the growing demand for bilingualism and multilingualism in Sri Lanka’s public and private sectors. The available courses include:
- Official & National Languages: Sinhala, Tamil, and English.
- International Languages: French, Japanese, Chinese, Hindi, and Arabic.
Course Structure and Fees
The programs are specifically structured as 100-hour courses, ensuring a comprehensive foundation for learners. To accommodate the schedules of working professionals and students, sessions will be held on Weekdays and Saturdays.
The flat course fee for these programs is set at Rs. 25,000, making specialized language education accessible to a broader audience.
