The University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced that applications are now open for the admission of students with foreign qualifications to undergraduate courses in Sri Lankan universities for the academic year 2024/2025.
According to the UGC, eligible candidates include both Sri Lankan and foreign passport holders who have completed foreign examinations deemed equivalent to the G.C.E. (Advanced Level) Examination of Sri Lanka. Applications must be submitted with all required documentary evidence, including certified educational certificates, proof of English language proficiency, and evidence of sufficient funds for fee-levying courses.
The UGC has reserved up to 0.5% of the total intake in each course of study for this special category, with priority given to children of Sri Lankan diplomatic personnel, foreign diplomats in Sri Lanka, and applicants from SAARC countries. Selected students—except those under the Sri Lankan diplomatic personnel category—will be admitted on a fee-levying basis.
Annual tuition fees range from US$ 3,000 for certain Arts and Humanities programmes to US$ 15,000 for Medicine and Dental Surgery. Applicants are required to pay a non-refundable processing fee of US$ 100.
