The Ministry of Health and Mass Media has officially announced the recruitment of 1,939 Health Work Assistants (Junior) to fill existing vacancies within the national health service.
According to the official gazette notification, applications are invited from qualified Sri Lankan citizens to join the Primary Unskilled Service category (PL 01 – 2006 – A).

- Position: Health Work Assistant (Junior) – Grade III
- Total Vacancies: 1,939
- Salary Scale: Rs. 40,000 – 10×450 – 10×490 – 10×540 – 12×590 – Rs. 61,880. (Starting monthly salary is approximately Rs. 38,863 as per 2026 adjustments).
- Age Limit: Applicants must be between 18 and 45 years of age as of the closing date.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must meet the following educational and physical requirements:
- Educational Qualifications:
- Must have passed the G.C.E. Ordinary Level (O/L) examination in at least two sittings.
- OR possess NVQ Level 3 or higher qualification in a relevant field.
- Physical Suitability: Applicants must be of sound physical and mental health to serve in any part of the island and perform the duties of the post.
