Sri Lankan Parliament Announces Vacancies for IT Professionals

The Parliament of Sri Lanka has announced job openings for several IT-related positions within the Office of the Secretary-General of Parliament. Applications are invited from Sri Lankan citizens who are physically fit and of excellent moral character.

Available Positions and Qualifications

1. Systems Designer (01 Vacancy)

• Salary Scale: Rs. 52,955 – 72,670 (Approx. Rs. 129,000 with allowances)
• Age Limit: 22 – 35 years
• Qualifications:
  • B.Sc. in Computer Science/IT/ICT
  • At least 5 years of experience in Systems Design (for external candidates)
  • At least 8 years of experience in the Parliament’s IT department (for internal candidates)
• Selection: Based on written/trade test and interview

2. Database Administrator (01 Vacancy)

• Salary Scale: Rs. 52,955 – 72,670 (Approx. Rs. 129,000 with allowances)
• Age Limit: 22 – 35 years
• Qualifications:
  • B.Sc. in Computer Science/IT/ICT
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator (for external candidates)
  • At least 8 years of experience in the Parliament’s IT department (for internal candidates)
• Selection: Based on written/trade test and interview

3. Computer Programmer (01 Vacancy)

• Salary Scale: Rs. 43,565 – 55,940 (Approx. Rs. 104,000 with allowances)
• Age Limit: 22 – 35 years
• Qualifications:
  • Degree in Computer Science/IT/Information Systems from a UGC-recognized university
  • Credit passes in O/L Mathematics, Sinhala/Tamil, and English
  • At least 3 years of experience in PHP, Java, JavaScript, RDBMS (MSSQL, MySQL)
  • Preferred: Expertise in HTML, CSS, jQuery, Bootstrap, and PHP frameworks
• Selection: Based on written/trade test and interview

4. Assistant Computer Programmer (01 Vacancy)

• Salary Scale: Rs. 34,605 – 42,810 (Approx. Rs. 90,000 with allowances)
• Age Limit: 18 – 35 years
• Qualifications:
  • Passed A/L (old syllabus – 4 subjects, new syllabus – 3 subjects in one sitting)
  • Credit passes in O/L Mathematics, Sinhala/Tamil, and English
  • A diploma in ICT from a government-recognized institute
  • Preferred: Experience in PHP and MySQL
• Selection: Based on written/trade test and interview

Selection Procedure

1. Written/Trade Test: Applicants must score at least 40 marks to qualify for an interview.
