🎓 1. Student Research Programme Structure
Encourages analytical thinking based on daily observations, environment, and social problem-solving across three tiers:
- Primary Division (Grades 1–5): Submit Observation Diaries on a 4-week natural or environmental phenomenon (e.g., animal behavior, plant germination, screen time). Deadline: October 15, 2026 (School Level).
- Junior Secondary Division (Grades 6–9): Construct Reflective Journals using structured activity sheets to analyze personal or school problem-solving. Deadline: October 15, 2026 (School Level).
- Senior Secondary Division (Grades 10–13 – Young Researcher Programme): Teams of up to 5 students conducting SDG-aligned research (e.g., Quality Education – SDG 4, Gender Equality – SDG 5, Climate Action – SDG 13). Progressive evaluation timeline:
- School Level Deadline: October 15, 2026
- Zonal Level Deadline: October 30, 2026
- Provincial Level Deadline: December 01, 2026
- National Level Deadline: December 15, 2026
- Publication Feature: Selected student research abstracts will be featured in the Ministry’s official publication, NextGen Insight.
📚 2. Teacher & Educational Management Tracks
Teacher Action Research
- Target Group: Officers of the Teachers’ Service and Teacher Advisor Service.
- Focus: Classroom action research aimed at improving teaching-learning methodologies.
- Submission Format: Reports must be between 3,000 to 6,000 words formatted according to APA 7th edition guidelines.
- Submission Deadline: Directly to the national level by December 15, 2026.
Educational Management Professionals Track
- Target Group: Officers within the Sri Lanka Education Administrative Service (SLEAS), Sri Lanka Teacher Educators’ Service (SLTES), and Sri Lanka Principals’ Service.
- Scope: Research papers up to 6,000 words addressing contemporary issues in educational administration and system management.
- Publication: Selected submissions will be published in the Ministry’s Educational Perspectives Journal.
- Submission Deadline: December 15, 2026.
