The Department of Examinations, Sri Lanka, has announced a streamlined online system for issuing certificates for the G.C.E. (Ordinary Level) and G.C.E. (Advanced Level) examinations conducted from the year 2001 onwards. This initiative aims to offer greater convenience and accessibility for applicants both locally and abroad.
Key Guidelines and Instructions:
- Eligibility: Only candidates who sat for all subjects in a particular G.C.E. O/L or A/L exam from 2001 onwards are eligible to apply for certificates online.
- Personal Application Required: Certificates must be applied for by the certificate holder themselves, using accurate personal information including NIC, contact number, email, index number, and exam year. Applicants are responsible for the accuracy of submitted details.
- Refund Policy: All payments are non-refundable, and no certificates will be issued to partial candidates (those who did not sit for all subjects).
- Authentication Requests:
- Certificates requested for authentication through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will only be provided as soft copies, which are emailed directly to the applicant after SMS notification.
- Hard copies for such authenticated certificates will not be issued.
- Applicants do not need to visit either the Department or the Ministry in person.
- Verification:
- All online-issued certificates can be verified through www.certificates.doenets.lk using the reference number (CX-XXXXXX).
- Foreign Missions can also verify authenticated certificates through access granted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- Delivery:

- For foreign use, certificates will only be posted to addresses located abroad.
- Australian Visa Applicants must collect their certificates in person from the Department with a valid passport and a photocopy.
