The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education has announced an amendment to the effective date related to the open recruitment of graduates to fill teacher vacancies in National and Provincial Schools islandwide.
According to the Extraordinary Gazette Notification No. 2474/19 issued on 02 February 2026, applicants were required to have completed the relevant degree qualifications by a specified date. However, Cabinet approval granted on 16 February 2026 has revised this requirement.
Under the amendment, the final date by which applicants must have completed their degree qualifications has been extended to 05 March 2026.
This revision is expected to provide an opportunity for a greater number of graduates, including those who are due to complete their degrees shortly, to apply for the Graduate Teaching Open Examination – 2026.
The relevant amendment to the Gazette notification will be published accordingly. Applicants are advised to take note of the revised effective date when submitting their applications.
