Cabinet Approves 2003 Public Sector immediate Recruitment

The Sri Lankan Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval to recruit 2,003 individuals to fill existing vacancies within the public sector, as recommended by a special committee tasked with reviewing the recruitment process and staff management.

The decision follows the submission of the second report by the officer’s committee, chaired by the Secretary to the Prime Minister, which identified 4,987 vacancies across 11 ministries and 5 provincial councils. After careful evaluation, the committee recommended the immediate recruitment of 2,003 personnel to address critical staffing needs.

The proposal, submitted by the Honorable Prime Minister, was met with approval by the Cabinet, signaling a move to strengthen the public sector’s capacity and efficiency. The recruitment drive is expected to alleviate staffing shortages and ensure the smooth functioning of essential services.
