The Ministry of Health and Mass Media has officially announced the “Asidisi-Technical” Mass Media Scholarship Programme 2026, a special initiative aimed at enhancing the technical competencies of Sri Lankan journalists and media professionals.
The programme seeks to improve access to advanced technical training opportunities, enabling media personnel to strengthen their skills in modern journalism, digital media production, broadcasting, animation, graphic design, and related fields.
Eligibility Criteria: Asidisi-Technical Mass Media Scholarship
Applicants must be journalists classified under the relevant Extraordinary Gazette and have completed at least two years of service. Candidates should be between 18 and 55 years of age at the closing date of applications and possess a valid Media Accreditation Card for 2025/2026 issued by the Department of Government Information.
Those who have previously benefited from an Asidisi scholarship programme are eligible to reapply only if they have successfully completed the course funded through the previous scholarship.
Financial Assistance
Selected candidates may receive financial support of up to Rs. 350,000, depending on the approved course and associated expenses.
Training Opportunities
Scholarships will be awarded for courses offered by several leading institutions, including:
- University of Kelaniya – Advanced Certificate in Digital Arts and Multimedia Studies
- Lake House Academy – Digital Journalism and Photography programmes
- Sri Lanka Institute of Printing – 3D Modelling & Animation, Video Designing, Graphic Designing, and Non-Linear Editing
- MMCC Campus – Lighting Effects, Sound Engineering, and Digital Media Content Creation
- Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation Media Academy – Certificate Course in Audio Media Programming
- Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation Research and Training Unit – Broadcast Journalism Training Programme
Additional technical media-related programmes may also be considered, subject to approval by the Ministry.
Selection Process
Beneficiaries will be selected through an interview conducted by a committee appointed by the Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Mass Media. The final decision on scholarship awards will be made by the Secretary of the Ministry.
Application Details
Applications can be submitted online through the Ministry’s media portal or sent by registered post to the Ministry of Health and Mass Media. The closing date for applications is 10 July 2026.
Successful applicants will be required to enter into an agreement with the Ministry and commence their studies within six months of receiving the scholarship.
