Allama Iqbal Scholarships Now Open for Sri Lankan Students

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has announced the opening of applications for the prestigious Allama Iqbal Scholarships for Sri Lankan students. This initiative, part of the “Allama Muhammad Iqbal Scholarship Scheme,” offers both fully and partially funded scholarships for undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral studies at top-ranked universities in Pakistan.

Aimed at fostering educational cooperation and cultural exchange between Sri Lanka and Pakistan, the program allows students to study in diverse fields such as Engineering, Medicine, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Arts, Humanities, Business Education, Computer Science, Agriculture, Media & Communication, and more.

Scholarship Coverage

The fully funded scholarships will cover:

• Tuition fees
• Maintenance allowance
• Hostel charges
• Book allowances

Partially funded scholarships will include tuition fees only, with all other expenses to be borne by the student.

Eligibility Criteria

• Medicine & Dentistry: GCE A/L (Pre-Medical) or equivalent with at least 65% marks
• Engineering: GCE A/L (Pre-Engineering) or equivalent with at least 65% marks
• Bachelor’s Degree: GCE A/L or equivalent with 60% marks
• Master’s Degree: 16 years of education in relevant subjects with 60% marks
• PhD Programs: As per relevant university and program requirements

Programme Offered

1. Medical (MBBS)
2. Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical etc.)
3. General Science (Physics, Biology, Chemistry etc.)
4. Social Sciences, Arts, and Humanities (English, Phycology, History, Law, Economics etc.)
5. Computer Science (Computing, IT, etc.)

The medium of instruction will be English, and students are expected to return to Sri Lanka upon completion of their studies.

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted online via the HEC portal
Hard copy applications will not be accepted.

Important Notes

• Applicants should not be older than 23 years for undergraduate, 35 years for non-Faculty master’s, and 40 years for Faculty PhD programs.
• Selection will be based on merit and aptitude test scores.
• Students already enrolled in any Pakistani university or on other HEC scholarships are not eligible.

Deadline

The last date to apply is 15th May 2025. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
