University of Kelaniya Extends Application Deadline for MA and MSSc Programs to April 22, 2025

The Faculty of Graduate Studies of the University of Kelaniya has officially extended the application deadline for its 2024 intake of Master of Arts (MA) and Master of Social Sciences (MSSc) programs. Aspiring postgraduate students now have until April 22, 2025, to submit their applications.

Offered under the Board of Study in Social Sciences, these programs are designed for individuals aiming to deepen their knowledge in a wide range of disciplines, including:

Archaeology
Economics
Geography
History
Library and Information Science
Mass Communication
Philosophy
Political Science
Sociology

Program Details

Master of Arts (MA): 1-year duration
- Requires a Bachelor’s Degree (General or Special) in a relevant field.
- Course Fee: Rs. 200,000 (payable in four installments)
Master of Social Sciences (MSSc): 2-year duration with research component
- Requires a Bachelor’s Degree (Special with a Class) in the relevant subject.
- Course Fee: Rs. 230,000 (payable in four installments)
- Applicants for the MSSc in Library and Information Science must have one year of professional experience or equivalent qualifications.

Medium of Instruction

Courses will be conducted in Sinhala or English, with specific programs such as Sociology and Economics offered in English as well.

Application Process

Applicants are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of Rs. 1,000 to the People’s Bank (Account No: 055-1001-8066-9229). Applications can be submitted online through the Faculty’s website at https://fgs.kln.ac.lk. Printed copies of the completed application, along with required documents, must be posted or hand-delivered to the Faculty.
