The Department of Official Languages has announced a competitive examination for the Recruitment of Translators – Class II in a move to fill 17 vacancies across three language categories. The open/limited examination is scheduled to be conducted by the Commissioner General of Official Languages in November 2025.
Qualified Sri Lankan citizens are invited to apply for the permanent and pensionable posts of Translator (Departmental) Class II.

The recruitment will follow an established percentage system, with 75% of vacancies under the Open Stream and 25% under the Limited Stream. The Commissioner General reserves the right to fill any number of or all vacancies.
Application and Eligibility Requirements
- Applications must be submitted online via the official website of the Department of Official Languages (www.languagesdept.gov.lk). The application form must be filled out in English.
- Mandatory Qualifications: All necessary qualifications must be fulfilled on or before October 28, 2025.
- Age Limit (Open Stream): Applicants must be between 21 and 35 years of age as of the closing date. The age limit is “not applicable” for the Limited Stream.
